Stupid

Today, my body decides that I am waking up at 4:00 in the morning.  Thanks, body!  Normally, we run that kind of decision by the brain, but you know, kudos for showing such initiative.  Maybe one day, you’ll get that promotion and be in charge of things.  Then, brain and I can take that long vacation we’ve been putting off for so many years.

Hiding

One can hardly conceive a creature

So lonely, it must make worlds in which to dream

Lives pretended, then absconded

Echoes ever onward

Blessedly forgetting who and what

It is.

You are that one you have so long sought,

A shard of ancient memory

A traveller in the dark.

Window Seat

Training is over and work has begun.  This time, I managed to wrest a seat with a view of the courtyard and the sky from a little old lady who is far too loud for anyone’s aural health.  Though I felt guilty towering over her, politely but menacingly reminding her who’s seat was who’s with a cold stare, I justified it to myself with the thought that I will be a little more sane than the last time I had this job.  That time, I stared at a blank, gray wall.  Now, I can stare at the sky and at the ornamental trees as the smokers spew fumes on their breaks.
